The SMB Program for Growth, Sustainability & Development

The Business Growth Accelerator (BGA) Program is a state-funded, Empire State Development-awarded initiative designed to strengthen the operational and business development capacity of certified Small & Medium Business firms in New York State. Through intensive technical assistance, curated curriculum, and hands-on mentorship, the program equips participating firms with the skills and resources needed to accelerate and sustain long-term business growth.

In 2022, A.L. Consulting Group was selected as the program incubator for NYC and Long Island, with instruction hosted at the Jacobs Technion-Cornell Institute at Cornell Tech, Roosevelt Island. The program serves both the NYC and Central New York regions, combining virtual and in-person learning across an 18-month structured curriculum.

BGA Timeline : 

2017

Empire State Development's Division of Minority and Women's Business Development launched the BGA program to support MWBE contributions and employment statewide.

2017 - 2019

The first BGA edition successfully enhanced the capacity of 52 MWBE firms across credit, marketing, and business growth disciplines, driving long-term business success.

2022

A.L. Consulting Group selected as incubator for NYC and Long Island program hosted at Cornell Tech's Jacobs Technion-Cornell Institute, supporting MWBE business growth.

Eligibility Requirements

To qualify for the BGA Program, applicants must meet the following criteria:
  • Industry Focus:
    Must be a construction service firm, construction consulting firm, or firm in semiconductor fab construction trades.
  • Certification:
    Must be a currently certified NYS MBE, WBE, or MWBE.
  • Business Tenure:
    Must be in business for at least two years.
  • Staffing:
    Must have at least two employees.
  • Revenue:
    Demonstrate annual revenues between $500,000 and $5 million during the most recent year.
  • Location:
    Business must be located in the Incubator region.
